The website launch checklist that starts with your visitor

A practical review of content, navigation, metadata, mobile behavior and domain setup before your first public launch.

Start with one useful outcome

Before you review colors, write the sentence your visitor should understand: what you offer, who it is for, and what to do next. Open your homepage and read only the heading, introduction and first button. Those three elements should tell a coherent story without requiring a tour of the whole site.

A restaurant needs hours, a location and a useful booking action. A consultant needs a clear specialty and a way to discuss a project. A software product needs a precise capability and a believable route to using it. Review your site against your own visitor’s task.

Check the journey, not just individual pages

Follow your main action as if you had never seen the business before. Navigate from the homepage to a service, from that service to an inquiry or purchase, and from the footer to support and policies. Every link should reach a real destination. Use descriptive labels so someone can predict where a link leads.

  • Remove unfinished sections and unsupported claims.
  • Check telephone and email links on a phone.
  • Read form instructions and error states.
  • Confirm the visitor can find the price or understand how to request a quote.

Make the mobile version its own review

Use an actual narrow screen. Check long headings, menu controls, image crops and the order of split sections. A screenshot is useful for appearance; tapping the controls is necessary for behavior. Keep primary actions easy to reach and make sure a sticky element never covers a form or policy text.

Publish with the essentials attached

Give each page a unique title and description. Check the intended canonical URL, a meaningful heading hierarchy and image descriptions. Make important content readable without depending on a decorative animation. Verify the custom domain, HTTPS, the preferred hostname and the redirects you intend to keep.

Google’s starter guidance emphasizes useful content and making pages accessible to its crawler. A submitted sitemap helps discovery but does not promise indexing.

In NeoEditor, review your component content and page metadata before publishing. After launch, open the public URL again, check it from a second device, and keep a short list of improvements based on real visitor behavior.
